I had a job interview a last month. Truth be told I would like to make more income and work closer to home. The employer in question is very close to my house and the job sounds like a piece of cake. So I interviewed with Traci. I fell in love with her right away! She was great. I knew that they were desperately needing to fill the position and my resume is stellar. When she asked how much I was looking to make, I asked her how much they were offering. Our numbers were very different. We both groaned. She said “But you are perfect for this job.” So I said “Tell your boss that, and when he is willing to up that number, give me a call.”
About a week later, I got that call! And as I sat down with Traci again, we went over more of the job obligations and staffing info. Then we got down to benefits. After all my questions were answered, Traci said “Girl, you can’t take this job, your current job package is something you will not find anywhere else around here.” I thought she was going to cry. We shook hands and I left her office. I felt better about my current job than I have in a long time.
I will go on enjoying my country drive to work… that gives me time to chat with my children daily and gives me time to read all those audio books. I will make the current salary keep working. But I have had a refresher on how great what I have really is!
Lesson learned! Hi ho hi ho… it’s off to work I go!
