Word of The Day

Blood Bites

I read an article about mosquitos and
why we are not all equal in their feasting.
Just as, in donating blood,
some blood types can be used by some people,
but blood type o+ can be used by everyone.
Mosquitoes love o+.
I have donated blood for many many years.
I do so because I know my blood is clean,
I’m healthy and, the knowledge that someone,
somewhere will need it. This keeps me going.
(I just can’t watch as they take it from me.)
But...
Just stepping into my tiny back yard means I
am going to be eaten alive! Grumble

Even Stars Collide

Beautiful Words on Self Love
A poem read by Charlie Chaplin on his 70th birthday (April 16, 1959),
originally written by Kim McMillen

We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born...Today I know “THAT IS LIFE”!
I loved the entire poem, but this section hit home.

Today’s Wisdom

”It’s a long story, the story of our lives...
Some things I took a long time to figure out,
and others I’ll never understand.
All I can say for sure is that
I WANT MORE.”

POLITICAL VOICE

The other day a coworker
made a very vocal political comment,
it bothered me but I said nothing.
Later, I let her know that no matter
who the president of our country is,
I will respect him(or her).
I have shown respect to each president
no matter my views or like for him.
It is respectful and patriotic.
I love my country.
PERIOD

The first out of my garden.
More basil than I know what to do with...
I will make some fresh pesto!

Doctors Visit

I saw my new doctor today. We talked about everything.
She asked a lot of questions. I got lots of information.
She ordered some girl appointments to be done and
some blood work too. We talked about my lack of sleep.
She asked how my sex life is going. I laughed.
She is the second doctor to tell me that I’m really healthy
and I would deal better with stress and sleep
if I added sexual activity to my life.
If that’s all that’s ailing me...
perhaps I need to look at this a bit more seriously.
After all, she said, your blood pressure is great!

(High blood pressure puts pressure on the blood vessels,
leading to damaged and narrowed hardened arteries.
The same effects that endanger the cardiovascular system
can also cause erectile dysfunctionin men
(think about it for a second…)
and reduced arousal and ability to achieve orgasm in women.)

This is my weekly Fitbit update:
I definitely need a little something!!!

***Blood Work Results are in:
Everything is perfect,
but I am low on Vitamin D!!! Easy

My Son

Then!

Now!

Farming Knowledge

Being the city girl that I am....all new country knowledge fascinates me!
I learned that apples that have fallen to the ground
can be used to make cider.
Who knew!
Wheat had been developed through the generations,
so what was once 4-5 feet foot tall stalks are now about 2 foot tall.
Keeping more nutrition in the head of wheat kernels.
Who knew!
And the big one that blew my mind!
I had no idea that the corn plant is a all in one sexual entity.
The tassel, on the top, is the male pollinater.
It will share its pollin love,
with the silk. The silk is the female part,
(Each strand of silk is attached to a single kernel of corn)
once pollinated, will form the corn kernels.
Who knew!

I love so much about the whole farming and country life thing!
Who knew!!!!!

Amanda’s Birthday

Today is my friend Amanda’s birthday.
She would have been 37 today.
We would have had a birthday party
with amazing food.
There would have been gifts with a cat theam.
It would have been a lovely day, just like Amanda.
I miss her.
