Clark "John" Kent

I have a friend from high school,
who always reminded me
of Super Man.
Sweet, mild mannered
Clark Kent.
But yet amazing amounts
of WOW hidden behind
the quiet exterior.
His name is John, and he
is still Super Man to me!

Mr Tregaskiss

Perseus with the head of Medusa,
 in Florence Italy.
I will never forget my 7th grade Social Studied teacher Mr. Tregaskiss! He brought history and the world to life for his class. He would come to class dressed in character. His method of teaching was not the norm, but he was amazing. He taught us how to do the 'Twist' one day when learning was the last thing on his class's mind. He taught us about Greek mythology, I fell in love with those stories! I named my oldest daughter after Perseus' mother Dane. I will always have happy memories from way back when!

Do you remember this date..... what happened on it?

Yep it was the date that Doc Brown put the Delorean in rout to! We haven't come as far as they thought we would have.  But I still have a thing for Michael J. Fox and yes I sure would have dated Doc Brown!

Just Because.....

Decorative elements! I have always wanted these cute designer globes. There are so many different kinds. But these darling little things are pricey, and I am a frugal girl, so I have never owned any. Until yesterday!
Let me tell you the story..... I was out with my son, running errands on my day off.  He was hungry, and he decided that Chipotle was the place for him. So we pulled in and there was NO parking available. So I parked in the LanmpsPlus store only parking. Then I had GILT...so I said, lets just run in and we can look!
So we took a detour from our lunch run and entered into the showroom of lighting! I had never been there before. And WOW it was cool. Lights of all sorts, and fans of all kinds but also lots of wonderful decorative elements. I felt like a kid in a candy store. But knowing my budget, I knew this was a look but don't touch moment. Until I saw these globes! There were so many of them, and they each had the most Wonderful thing on them!!! A red clearance sticker!!! Each globe was $1.98. I was DELIGHTED!!! So I bought one of each! The helpful man wrapped them for me, we got my son his lunch and now I get to figure out where to put them in my cute home!!!! HAPPY!

Checking on Me

I got a text around 1am from a friend. She said she had an overwhelming feeling that she should text me. So I got out of bed and checked on my kids and the house, all was well! I texted her back and thanked her for her sweet thoughtfulness and let her know all was well! I am touched that her thoughts were on me and my cute peeps! Let's all go back to sleep!!!

Aging Gracefully

Betty White at 89 years old: I discovered that I believe aging gracefully is an art not defined by face wrinkles and a chronological number. I’ll wear my years proudly. I refuse to be defined by a society that focuses on looking young at all costs. I have no intention of making an appointment with a plastic surgeon to have my face frozen, lips plumped, or anything lifted up or sucked out. My wrinkles are my badge of courage. They represent where I’ve been and I am taking them with me in this next part of my life. My breasts sag, my fanny has fallen, my tummy goes out instead of in, and my cellulite . . . well, let’s just say that I’d have to buy the cream by the barrel to tighten it up. Yet all of these well-earned life-road marks are part of who I am. With the physical aging comes emotional, mental, and spiritual aging as well; and I like how far I’ve come in those respects. I’ve learned more and more each year, and I’m proud that I’m always up for trying something new. I’m grateful that I’ve been blessed to be on this planet at this time in history and have witnessed all that I have. I invite you to look at your life and all that you have to be proud of and grateful for. Remember that on the day you were born, you brought your unique and special light to this world and, as Mark Twain is reported to have said, “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”

Kids In My House

I often come home from work to a house full of kids. I don't mind it a bit, I like knowing where mine are and that every one is being good! On this particular afternoon it was game day at my home. We played a couple intense games of UNO and a silly round of Apples To Apples.
Then they turned  on the Wii.
Amy and Danniella are boxing in the photos below...funny stuff!
The boys beat the girls in a variety of sporting wii games.
So, as to their Wii challenge the ladies owed the boys dinner one night the next week.....

......... the rest of the story......
The next week I walked in the kitchen door after a long day of banking, and found 5 kids at my table scarfing down breakfast for dinner! All that was left was a few hot sweet rolls and four slices of crispy bacon. Since I am not a sweet roll fan as a rule, and I claimed the bacon!!! Again, I love having the kids over at my house!! Next week the boys will cook for the girls!!!

The Beauty Of 24

This is my daughter Jessette on her Birthday.
She was the most beautiful baby I ever saw.
She was not a cuddler, but she was delightful!
She was a quiet thinker, a story teller an artist.
I still see her at 4, at 6, at 12...
how did she get to be 24?
             I adore her!!!!

The Adjustment Bureau

(I want to rewrite my path)

Yummmmmy!

The other day Cookie was looking through the app on her iTouch from the Cook's magazine. She wanted to make Berry Parfaits! We bought the ingredients and she made Amy, herself and me beautiful Parfaits in our champagne flutes. I was delighted with her desire to make this splendid treat, and it also inspired me to revisit  some of my great and seldom used apps. The Food Network has a nice site, where I found my new favorite treat! 'Ree's Strawberry Oatmeal Bars'. So simple, so way easy and so yummmmmmy!!!

An Early Morning Call

I received a voicemail this morning from my place of employment. It said that the office was having a power outage, and that I shouldn't head to work until 8am at the earliest. It informed me to check with the websight on the back of my badge or call the 1 (877) number for more details.
The websight reads "The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable." And the phone number says there are "No Current Events"!
I am grateful to sweet Marge who texted me before doubt could set in, and informed me she too had received the message. I will keep in touch with her, and I will check in with the 'up to the minute emergency alert system'.
But it's 4:47am now and I am pretty sure all this means is I get to go back to sleep for a few hours!!!! Happy Friday Indeed!!   WOOHOO!

A Happy Mom!

I am trying to foster love and harmony in our home. Since summer is upon us and my children have time on their hands, I figured we would implement some new life skills. Okay maybe they aren't really new, but they are to my kids, sort of.
They both have to have a chore done each day and help keep the home tidy. They also need to prep one to two meals per week, for our family.
Imagine my surprise, three weeks into summer vacation, and I come home to Cookie making dinner!!! Yes it  was Hamburger Helper (I figured start her out on something that she would succeed at, build her culinary confidence, and who knows what delicious masterpieces she will create) but, she picked it out and was excited to eat it so win win situation! Mark got "laundry detail" today. So as I sat with my feet on the sofa (I can do that, it's mine), having a dish of Cookie's 'super supper' and mixed veggies, Mark kept coming in with laundry questions.
Mark- Do I need to sort all that?
Me~Yes
Mark-Can this blue shirt go in the washer?
Me~Yes
Mark-Can this dark green shirt go with the blocks?
Me~Yes
Mark~Dose this go in black or purple?
I face him at this point, not recalling that we own anything black and purple. Only to see him standing there holding his sisters unmentionables in the air. He was truly perplexed, I wanted to bust out laughing. Here he was holding this bit of girly stuff not having a clue what to do with it. So I cut him a break and told him to add it to the pink pile! Laundry got sorted and a load got washed. Dinner was made and it was yummy!
I am a very happy mom!!!!!

Pizza Pizza

Sitting in Tammy's yellow bug, in her driveway, having a heart to heart talk.....
Jordan, her 16 year old texts "Since you are sitting out there can you get me a pizza?"

Well yes, yes we can!

Recipe For Success

We are doing this motivational thing at work, where we, as a team are supposed to write out our Recipe For Success.
We will display them tomorrow. We had a bit of fun with it.
But it made me think about my personal Recipe for Success. Part of Life 101, I suppose. I am going to add it to my list of things to do.
I like the concept.
