ADVENTURE

I love people who refer to everything as an adventure. “We’re going on an adventure!”
Even if it’s just to get an ice cream at McDonald’s at 3am!

TONIGHTS MOON

Tonight’s full moon:
The Snow Moon's name simply comes from the fact that there's a heavy amount of snowfall in February.
Some Native American tribes refer to the full moon by different names. The Cree call it the Bald Eagle Moon, the Dakota refer to it as the Racoon Moon, the Algonquin name it the Groundhog Moon, and the Haida say it's the Goose Moon. The Cherokee call it the Hungry Moon because February is known for its lack of food.
The Old Farmer's Almanac notes that on Saturday, February 27, at 3:19 a.m. EST, the Snow Moon will be its brightest, but don't worry, you don't have to be up quite that early to get a good look. The site notes that you should look for the moon on Friday night when the moon will move toward the east at sunset. It will reach the highest point around midnight EST.

CRUSH'N IT

On my drive through Southern Indiana to and from work, I drive past a car lot. I thought it may be a used car lot, but really I think it is a salvage yard. Sometimes they have lots of cars, in all states of dilapidation, and some times there are not very many at all. When summer turned to fall, and all the leave started to fall off the trees, I could see that there were lots more cars in lots back in the woods. When the river floods, those cars get pretty wet. Well, yesterday as I was driving past, I saw that they had a CAR CRUSHER! I have never seen this before, and was so excited to see the process. A fork lift had a car raised up and ready to insert into the huge toaster oven looking thing. I also saw a stack of very flattened cars. But that was all I saw as I zoomed past on my way to the office. And on my way home there was no activity in the dark. This morning I was hoping for some cool car crushing, but I was sadly disappointed.

But let me tell you! It was cool stuff!

POINT OF VIEW

Alton Brown

THE CHILD INSIDE

"I asked an elderly man once what it was like to be old and to know the majority of his life was behind him. He told me that he has been the same age his entire life. He said the voice inside of his head had never aged. He has always just been the same boy. His mother's son. He had always wondered when he would grow up and be an old man. He said he watched his body age and his faculties dull but the person he is inside never got tired. Never aged. Never changed.
Our spirits are eternal. Our souls are forever. The next time you encounter an elderly person, look at them and know they are still a child, just as you are still a child and children will always need love, attention and purpose."

FACE TO FACE

I love technology. Phone calls, text, email, skype and all the new ways to social distance and still be connected.

HOWEVER... I think that so much is missed if you are not actually FACE TO FACE.

There is so much to be said for body language and vocal inflection.

I think without true connection so much can be misconstrued or missed all together.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

This is the house at the end of my little street.
I don’t know Mike, but it was his birthday yesterday.
I love these big yard signs. They are happy!!!

AGAIN

I re-read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I’m sure it’s purpose is for creating business smarts, however, I think there are several points that are just plain life smart.

TRAVEL SOLUTION

My boss came into my office today and said he had a solution for me....

"Put a glass of wine in each room of your house and call it a WINE TOUR!"

"Or you can put your beer on the floor

and call it a BEER CRAWL"

TODAY IS ORLANDO, FL

There is a young man who comes into my office every couple weeks. I am not sure of just was his 'ability' is, but he comes in with his caregiver each time. Since covid has been an issue, his care giver says that he is only aloud to go to three different places on his outings. He chooses to come to AAA, and each time he askes for a road map for a new destination. Today is Orlando, Florida. He gets so excited about each destination. He shows each travel advisor his map, he opens it and shows different places on the map.

His name is Chris, I do not know his care givers name, but she is so loving and patient with him.
I thought about Chris this morning on my drive into work, and I was delighted to see him walk into the office today. His care giver says that he pours over the map and all the information on in. They talk about different locations, and he chooses the new map location before he leaves home. He may have areas that he is not proficient in, but he loves maps and leaning about the places he finds.

He has a way of making everyone he comes in contact happy.

ADVENTURE

There is no recipe or ‘right way’ to experience it,

nor does it require that you travel halfway across the world to discover it.

Just have enthusiasm, a happy attitude and someone you enjoy to share it with.

SUNDAY DRIVE

It was in the 40’s today. And I had the need for a drive. I drove around town for a bit and since there wasn’t any more snow on the roads, I got some gas on highway 54 and headed out. I weaved in and out of the little roads up and down the hills. Then I made my way through Whitesville, past the little grocery store, then headed toward Fordsville. There was a wreck along the way, and since I had no where to be, I waited patiently. It was great to see that no one was hurt. And really neat to see how great the volunteer fire department and road crew worked together to get the issues handled and the road back to usable. As I got to Fordsville I turned onto highway 69 and enjoyed the quiet, lazy drive north. That’s where I met the big black dog standing in the middle of the road. He was charming, just waited in the other lane to watch me drive by, then he moseyed on along. I took 144 to 2181 and looked for deer as I meandered through the woods. But I saw no wildlife. I drove back down the scenic highway, back along roads that I love, and took 764. This road sure has some sharp curves. I normally take Jack Hinton road on my way back to town, but I didn’t today, and ended up back in Whitesville. And that is okay with me. From there it was a short drive back to town and back to my little house.
I really enjoyed seeing the barns and the snow. I love the woods and the countryside.
The weather was great, I had a good talk with God, and I cleared my head.
 I love my Sunday drives!

SPRING?

BAKING

Yesterday it was peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip bars. Today it’s homemade biscuits and bread!

Still tweaking my recipe, I’ll get it perfect someday!

How to become a better person.

FAITH

The warrior of light, once he has learned how to use a sword, discovers that his equipment is still incomplete – he needs armour.
He sets off in search of this armour and he listens to the advice of various salesmen.
‘Use the breastplate of solitude,’ says one.
‘Use the shield of cynicism’, says another.
‘The best armour is not to get involved in anything,’ says a third.
The warrior, however, ignores them. He calmly goes to his sacred place and puts on the indestructible cloak of faith.
Faith parries all blows. Faith transforms poison into crystalline water.

TAKE IT

WHAT?

I do miss IN-N-OUT Burger! Animal burger and Vanilla Shake! Yummy
But I do not understand why JACK-In-The BOX is not in this map. It is my favorite. And then there is Filiberto’s... what about them?
CHIPOTLE?
Now I want a taco. 🌮

BE PIZZA

DUCKY

I sure love this tiny Ducky!
She has her Grammy’s ♥️

NANA WOULD BE PROUD

I made home made marinara the other day. I used all the tomatoes from last years garden that I frozen. The sauce simmered most of the day. I also made homemade bread for dipping.
When ever I make marinara I always miss my grandma. I think my recipe actually is better than hers. But I sure wish she was here to do dinner together.
