STORY

This weekend I enjoyed over 500 miles worth of  the start of fall. I took a lot of back roads. I really thought my Google app was ready to start using obscenities when I would choose a different rout than she sweetly alerted me to. But she through me for a loop when she suggested my last scenic rout. I can not even start to share the beauty of the Midwest. The forests are breathtaking. Although I only saw horses and cows for the most part, I did see a chipmunk and a groundhog! Happy creatures!

Please click the link below and check out the tiny town of Story, Indiana. I loved it!
Next time I won’t go alone and I’ll make reservations!!

AUTUMN

Taking a drive today. First Saturday of Fall! I’m driving through Southern Indiana, I use to take this drive often, but it’s been a couple years since I travelled these roads. The sky is overcast, the temps are just delightfully cool. The breeze is making all those turning trees look even more autumn enticing!

Troy to Hoosier National Forest to French Lick Let’s see where these back roads take me next!

BUTTER vs MARG

This is interesting . .. .

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.

It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings....

DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter?

Both have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to 5 grams for margarine.

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .

And now, for Margarine..

Very High in Trans fatty acids.

Triples risk of coronary heart disease ...

Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

Increases the risk of cancers up to five times..

Lowers quality of breast milk

Decreases immune response.

Decreases insulin response.

And here's the most disturbing fact... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC... and shares 27 ingredients with PAINT.

These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

Open a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:

* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow.

Why? Because it is nearly plastic . Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Share This With Your Friends.....(If you want to butter them up')!

Chinese Proverb:

When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.    Pass the BUTTER PLEASE

BACK TO WORK

I am back to work full time.

Tough being off for 3 weeks and diving right in to all the hiccups and head aches of the daily grind.

I was so excited to see my work family and all my clients.

But my desk is covered in things that I have to do today.

I think I need a nap.

WALK THE WALK

Pastor Jeremiah Steepek (pictured below) transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning.

He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service... only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food... NO ONE in the church gave him change. He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the usher if he would please sit in the back. He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him.

As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such. When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation...

"We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek"... The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation... The homeless man sitting in the back stood up... and started walking down the aisle... the clapping stopped with ALL eyes on him... he walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment... then he recited:

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

After he recited this, he looked towards the congregation and told them all what he had experienced that morning... many began to cry and many heads were bowed in shame.... he then said... “Today I see a gathering of people... not a church of Jesus Christ. The world has enough people, but not enough disciples... when will YOU decide to become disciples?” He then dismissed service until next week...

Being a Christian is more than something you claim. It’s something you live by and share with others.

VITAMINS

I have been pretty good about taking my vitamins and minerals over the years.
But recently I went off all of them cold turkey.
I have felt sluggish and not well for two weeks.
Yesterday I started my routine again.
I woke up feeling amazing!
I will never again deprive my body of vitamins and minerals again.

GREAT MOVIE

I sobbed.
I didn’t watch it because yesterday was 9.11
I wanted to watch a good movie and I hadn’t heard of this before. But Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock, you cant beet the combination. It was the young man who shouldered the movie. He did it beautifully.
I hear it is a true story, it was wonderful and heartbreaking and empowering.
Two thumbs up on this. Grab the tissue box.

JUDGEMENT

A young couple moved into a new neighborhood.

The next morning while they were eating breakfast, the young woman saw her neighbor hanging the washing outside.

"That laundry is not very clean; she doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."

Her husband looked on, remaining silent.

Every time her neighbor hung her washing out to dry, the young woman made the same comments.

A month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband, "Look, she’s finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?"

The husband replied, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life… What we see when watching others depends on the clarity of the window through which we look.

So don’t be too quick to judge others, especially if your perspective of life is clouded by anger, jealousy, negativity or unfulfilled desires.

"Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are."

BUCKET LIST

Three years ago today I drove through Kentucky, into West Virginia and on into the state of Virginia.
I was just home from Hawaii days before, and figured not only did I need to touch the Atlantic Ocean for the first time, but I needed to fulfill some more bucket list items. I went alone, the weather was great. I kept the windows down and the volume of the radio up.
I marveled at the beauty of the topography and the charm of the little towns. I had heard so much about some of the cities and towns, that to see them was thrilling. I loved the road trip. I had a couple goals in mind for this trip, Monticello and then my feet in the ocean. I did both that weekend. And drove home all night singing with the moon. It was a wonderful adventure. It was empowering and healing. I want to do it again!
Three years later... today I embark on a new adventure. I’m excited and nervous. But as with each of the things on my bucket list, I’m doing it for me, there will be rough roads ahead and challenging forks in the road, but I’m ready! Bring it on!!!

But I’m still up for a road trip!

NEXT CHAPTER

Fear of the unknown can stop you from living.

Tomorrow I step into my next chapter. It may me challenging and difficult. But I believe that if you are not challenged, if you don’t take that leap of faith in you ... you just keep reliving the same pages of your story over and over. My next chapter is a plot twist! It will be an amazing adventure. Fear is not standing in my way!

GRANDMAS HOUSE

I love this ...

Mom, can I sleep at Grandma's tonight ?
I heard in the car,  this morning...
When I managed to turn around, to see my child, it made me go back to the past, with just one sentence...
She was no longer within my reach.
I travelled far...
When did time go by and make us adults full of boring priorities?
We fight every day, for something we're not even sure we really want...
When in fact, grandma's house is what everyone needs to be happy.
Grandma's house, is where the hands of the clock take a vacation with us and the minutes unhurriedly arrive.
Grandma's house is where a simple pasta and homemade bread seem to have different flavours, delicious...
Grandma's house is where an innocent afternoon, can last for an eternity of games and fantasies.
Grandma's house is where the cupboards hide old clothes and mysterious tools.
Grandma's house is where the closed boxes become chests of secret treasures, ready to be unveiled.
Grandma's house is where toys rarely come ready, they are invented on the spot.
Grandma's house, is where everything is mysteriously possible, magic happens and without worries.
Grandma's house is where we find the remains of our parents' childhood and the beginning of our lives.
Grandma's house, on the inside, is the address of our deepest affection, where everything is allowed.
That luxury no longer belongs to me - unfortunately - it will live with me, only in memories.
Even so, if I could place an order now... any order of all orders in the world, I would order the same thing...
Can I sleep at Grandma's tonight?"

Thank you GGS!
