I may have an issue with putting my shoes away.....just saying.

2012 ~ 307

It may not be a big deal to anyone but me, but I am watching NASCAR Daytona 500.
Perhaps it's not a big deal to others. Definitely outside my norm though. I think in the effort to be
well rounded and perhaps a better girlfriend....I should know this boy stuff.
So I know the drivers that I am cheering for....well I can tell you their numbers and car colors....
that's important you know!
SO, judge me not. The fact that I have sports on my laptop rather than "Pinterest" and yes that
is my t.v., it is on and I am even watching the commercials! Who knew!!

Heros

Lee Marvin, is buried in a grave alongside
3 and 4-star generals at Arlington National Cemetery.
His marker gives his name,
rank (PVT) and service (USMC). Nothing else.
Here's a guy who was only a famous movie star who served his time.
Why the heck does he rate burial with these guys?
Well, following is the amazing answer:
I always liked Lee Marvin, but didn't know the extent
of his Corps experiences.

In a time when many Hollywood stars served their country in the armed forces often in rear echelon posts where they were carefully protected, only to  be trotted out to perform for the cameras in war bond promotions,
Lee Marvin was a genuine hero.
He won the Navy Cross at Iwo Jima . There is only one higher Naval award...the Medal Of  Honor!

If that is a surprising comment on the true character of the man, he credits his sergeant with an even greater show of bravery.
The following is a dialog from "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson."
His guest was Lee Marvin...Johnny said, "Lee, I'll bet a lot of people are unaware
that you were a Marine in the initial landing at Iwo Jima...
and that during the course of that action, you earned
the Navy Cross and were severely wounded."

"Yeah, yeah... I got shot square in the bottom and they gave me the Cross for securing a hot spot about halfway up Suribachi. Bad thing about getting shot up on a mountain is guys getting shot hauling you down. But, Johnny, at Iwo, I served under the bravest man I ever knew...We both got the Cross the same day, but what he did for his Cross made mine look cheap in comparison.
That dumb guy actually stood up on Red Beach and directed his troops to move forward and get the hell off the beach. Bullets were flying by, with mortar rounds landing everywhere,
and he
stood there as the main target of gunfire so he could get his men to safety. He did this on more than one occasion because his men's safety was more important than his own life. That Sergeant and I have been lifelong friends. When they brought me off Suribachi, we passed the Sergeant and he lit a smoke and passed it to me, lying on my belly on the litter and said, "Where'd they get you Lee?"  I told him, "Well Bob... if you make it home before me, tell Mom to sell the outhouse!" Johnny, I'm not lying,  Sergeant Keeshan was the bravest man I ever knew.  The Sergeant's name is Bob Keeshan. You and the world know him as Captain Kangaroo."

On another note, there was this wimpy little man on PBS, gentle and quiet. Mr. Rogers (who has now passed away)
is another of those you would least suspect of being anything
but what he portrayed to our youth. But Mr. Rogers was a U.S. Navy Seal, combat-proven in
Vietnam with over twenty-five confirmed kills to his name.
He wore a long-sleeved sweater on TV, to cover
the many
tattoos on his forearms and biceps.
He was a master in small arms and hand-to-hand combat,
able to disarm or kill in a heartbeat.
After the war Mr. Rogers  became an ordained Presbyterian minister
and therefore a pacifist. Vowing to never harm another human and
also dedicating the rest of his life to trying to help lead children on the right path in life... He hid away the tattoos and his past life and won our hearts with his quiet wit and charm.
America's real heroes don't flaunt what they did; they quietly go about their day-to-day lives, doing what they do best.
They earned our respect and the freedoms that we all enjoy.
Look around and see if you can find
one of those
 heroes in your midst.
Often, they are the ones you'd least suspect, but would most like
to have on your side if anything ever happened. Take the time to thank anyone who has fought for our freedom. With encouragement they could be the next Captain Kangaroo or Mr. Rogers!

Send this on. Nothing will happen to you if you don't,  but if you do share it,
you will be awakening others
to what a HERO is made of...

Captain Kangaroo passed away on January 23, 2004, at age 76 , which is odd,
because he always looked to be 76. (DOB: 6/27/27)

Cookie and I spent the day together. I love  her.
She is interested in writing, in cars and in boys!
Yet she is still very much my little girl.
She found a Caterpillar as she was in the yard.
(YES, This is actually the outfit she wore while
pulling weeds in the side yard.)
She fell in love with the bug and put it on my little lemon tree!
I think she is darling!!!

Mark and Amy just  tickle everyone around them.
They are so fun to be with! We all went to dinner at
Jessette and Cole's place, no matter where we are, we
always enjoy each other!!

I can't even find the words to say how happy these two
silly kids make me. They are goofy to no end, they are
very down to earth, they are perfect. They had us over to their
place for dinner, it was relaxing and fun. Then we all played
with the dog and bubbles in the back yard. Simple, real, fun!!!
I love them all!

Friday Night
I had a party to attend, I only planned to be out a couple hours. I went, saw some friends from work, enjoyed myself, put another check on my bucket list. Was home by 10:30. My son and his girl were watching a show and Cookie was asleep. Mark took Amy home, and by the time I was ready for bed he was home again.
My house was quiet, all was well.
*May I stop right here and just say how thankful I am for good kids, for common sense, and for there being open communication in my home! Also...how thankful for the young woman who my son is crazy about. Her example and her great upbringing help keep my son on a great path.*
Mark and Amy had gone out earlier in the evening. They went to West Gate, to enjoy the live bands. They went equipped with Oreo's and milk, you've got to love that!
Mark's friends had wanted him to go out with them Friday night. But my boy had a date with his girl!

This is how Mark's friends ended their evening Friday night.
I can not tell you how grateful I am that those very reckless, unwise boys all had their seatbelts on. I can not tell you how glad I am that they are all okay, banged up and a bit broken, but okay. I can not tell you how very happy I am that my son was with Amy Friday night.

Kristan and Angie 1985
I miss those girls! Back when the biggest worry on my mind was what cute outfit to wear. (The outfit in the photo was a true favorite, loved the shorts, the top made from shoestrings and those shoes where my FAVORITE, loved the wrap around laces!!)
Funny how at 18 the world looked so much different. I never anticipated that I would be here, where I am today. I have to say, I am glad for the paths I chose, I wish things would have turned out differently along the way. But I am happy with me, happy with my life. I have the best things to show for who I am and where my life has taken me...and I gave birth to all four of them! My goals have changed perhaps, but I still want the same things out of life. Happy has always been at the top of my list.
I do miss the perfect body, the 8 hours of restful sleep each night and the lack of responsibility. But I wouldn't change any of it for the world!!!

I watched a friend deal with change today. His struggle was hard. If you do not know him well, you may not have noticed the little changes in his behavior. (But I did, he had my mommy senses going off all day.) He knew the changes were coming, he had felt it for some time now.

My heart loves this friend, and wants only the best for him. He is young and has much of life to learn, but I want his life lessons to be happy and easy. I watched him leave work and  I said a silent prayer. I know I am not the only one that wants good things for this young man. And I know angels will be watching out for him.
I hope that all those that I care for and love have others watching out for them.

Spent some time talking to a friend about places I want to go.

2012 ~ 316

My son participated in a skills competition for high schools across the state. He competed in the Building Trades Electrical division. And although he did not win his division (he was seconds away from third place). I was in attendance at the awards ceremony. How nice it was to see so many of our youth join together to celebrate each other, their schools and their futures. It was a great event. Loved being there to celebrate my son.
Congrats also tho Aaron, who won second place in Auto motives

.

4 Things

There are four things a man needs to know how to say to make a relationship work....
1) I love you
2) You are beautiful
3) I'm sorry
4) Can I help you with that?

If he only knows how to say one or two of them, then they one or two that he says mean nothing!

A Wonderful Womam

Here is to being a Wonderful Woman!
Rather than a Wonder Woman!

NO WORDS.....NONE

There are no words to describe the pain and heart ache when the things you want the most
are just out of your reach.

Friday morning....new computer tower, mouse and keyboard.
Having to reload all programs, reinstall just about everything.
A darling coworker asks "Is today Monday?"
That sums up my Friday morning!
Grateful for new, more grateful for those I work with!!
I love my team!!!!
