AIR SHOW

Owensboro, Kentucky has an Air Show each year. It is a four day program and it starts tomorrow. I know they are practicing, and that at 9am today the Blue Angels would be in the air. But when that first jet hit the air at 8am this morning, I was delighted. I ran for the front door and when I stepped out onto the front porch of the little red brick house, there was a low flying jet screaming past. (I am sure I could have seen more had I been able to look to the North, but the cute little back yard is enclosed in tall green trees at this point in the summer.) My heart was delighted.

Growing up in Phoenix, there was an international airport, several smaller airparks and two military bases in the airspace. At one point, I lived in the flight path of the Luke Airforce Base and the jets rattled my wine glasses everyday. The only time there was not air traffic over head was the week of 9/11, and that was very surreal. But here in my tiny town, the air traffic is very very limited. So this mornings fly over was delightfully thrilling!
