DOE A DEER

On my way down one of my favorite backroads yesterday, I saw a deer from a distance. She was standing at the edge of the woods, close to the road. She watched me as I drove slowly up to her. I didn’t see any other deer, and no fawns either. She just stood there watching me. She looked so lovely, sleek and gentle. Her eyes were so big and dark. I sat and watched her watching me for for just a bit of time. She never stopped looking at me, even as I drove away. From my rear view mirror I could see her still watching me. I was in awe. What a wonderful experience.
