Thanksgiving Tree
When my children were young, we would celebrate the month of November with a Thanksgiving Tree. We would cut out the paper tree trunk and attach it to a wall or door, then we would cut out dozens of fall colored leaves. The leaves went into a big bowl, and each day we would all select a leaf of a different color and shape. On the leaf we would write something we were thankful for then tape it to our tree trunk. As the month of November went by, our home looked more and more like fall, as our Thanksgiving Tree bloomed with autumn colored gratitude. By the Thursday of Thanksgiving our tree was full and lovely. By the end of November, when the children were so ready to decorate for Christmas, our tree was exploding with thanks. It was a nice way to usher in the Christmas spirit as we took the leaves down and reflected on all we were grateful for.
