The Journey
by Mark Jensen
What is more important, the journey or the destination?
Put it in the perspective of life. Life is a journey and death is the destination. The destination may be important but the journey is what you learn and how you grow to where you want to be. There are three main reasons why the journey is more important than the destination; the learning, the growing and the self fulfillment.
In the movie "Despicable ME" Gru is trying to essentially become the vest villian. And on his journey to achieving this, he adopts thee little girls. Without trying, these girls teach Gru how to love; bettering and enriching his life.
On another side of things...In the movie "Hercules" the main character is almost fully drained of his godly powers. He has to train to get stronger and to grow. But he has to lose it all to grow to his full potential. Life learning and growing, self fulfillment is so important in the journey.
In the epic poem of "Beowulf", he obtains self fulfillment when he kills Grendel and his mother. He has to fight in a way he isn't used to, with out weapons. After he wins, he is very please and has earned self fulfillment.
If you could go straight to where you wanted to go, you would never gain any thing. Without self fulfillment, growth and learning, life or the life experience would be dull.
Life is what you make it, so make it something worth living.
