Thought of the Day

 Judgment comes from experience
and experience comes from bad judgment.

( I don' know that I agree with this all the time,
But it sounds right for much of it!!!)

Today's Goal

DO ONE DELICIOUS THING!

I guess it's time for me to stop making plans for my future. Maybe it's time to start living my life.

If I could choose...

This would be in my back yard!
At my home in the country!
Where life is more simple
And love is a part of everything!

Back on The Right Path

I was talking to my Life Guru yesterday. We talk only occasionally lately, and I miss his wisdom and guidance.
We spoke on an area in my life that I am having hiccups, as always his wisdom leaves me in a state of 'awe'.
He has a way of decluttering my head, clearing the view of the issue at hand, helped me see the real elements and sets me on the path of progressively moving forward. How he does that, I dont know.
(I am not going to tell him how amazing he is. He would get a big head and he may end up sending me a bill.)
The Guru reminded me that every step along the path prepares us for the next step. And that if we want to end up at a specific destination along the way, we need to plan for it. Do the homework, set the plan, work for it!

I have a game plan to map out! And for the first time in a long time, I feel like I can and want to do it!
Thank you SM!

Dinners Prepped and Frozen

I have such a hard time getting motivated to plan and prep dinner after work and kid stuff every day.
So yesterday I went grocery shopping. I tend to be very frugal when I shop, although I need to get back to doing the coupon thing the way I use to. I do miss the totally full pantry experience.
After I got home I went about prepping meals. I have a few more to prep, but.....
I prepped 18 dinners. All the beef and chicken are seasoned or marinating. I still have the pork to prep, and a few casseroles. But when I am finished, I will have a months worth of dinners ready to go. I wont have to think, I will just have to choose the dinner we want each night and make make it fresh in 30 minutes.
My son was saying the other day how he missed Entrees Made Easy; a business that you could do just what I did yesterday, take all the meals home and stick them in the freezer. So the planning and prep was done, yet you made a wonderful fresh dinner each night. Although this wasn't a new concept...my friends and I had been doing it for years at home. But as our family dynamics changed, and I worked more, even though that alone should have caused me to keep up the good habit, I stopped the routine.
My family is wonderful, they never complain about food. They will eat just about anything I put in front of them, just about! But I know variety and fun are important elements in family dinners.
After I was finished with my prep work, my son had his girl friend over and it was well past dinner time. I asked what they wanted to eat. My perfect son said "Pizza!" He smiled. He has learned a very very good lesson: When you shop, clean and prep all day, you shouldn't have to make dinner too!
So we had pizza for dinner! And I went to bed!
Happy, stress free Mom + full freezer = Happy Family!!

OOoooooo!

I bet this would look great in a barn!

I am not a material girl. I have never been one to spend money I don't have.
But as I get wiser....
I see the importance of having things that make you happy.
I have never asked for jewelry,
I don't take trips, I spend very little frivolously.
And I do see that at some point that really should stop. But not today.

I have a passion though......
And that is my bed. It has to be one of my favorite places!
I have learned that there are very few things nicer than feeling beautiful in bed!
I love my deep quilted mattress coverlet. I love my silk bed spread.
I LOVE my 800 thread count sheets. And I love  love love my Vera Wang pillow.
(I have four pillows on my bed, and two more in the chest at the foot of my bed.
But, it is Vera who has my spoiled princess heart! It is the most delightful pillow!!!)

I have never owned a lovely bed frame. But when I saw this one,
it whispered 'Fairy Magic' to my heart.
I would pay the non frugal price for this bit of heaven.
Then......I would never never never get out of bed!!!

True That!

The more you know who you are,
And what you want,
The less you let things upset you.

Wahoo!

It truly makes me ponder, when I look at all the hits my blog takes. Why anyone would read what I have to say. Yet world wide there are people reading. I wish I got a better demographic on who they are. I know a handful. But stinking heck, I have people googling my private email address to find me. Then they linger and read bunches. I have no idea why.

But to those that read, thanks for listening to what's in my day, what's in my head and what's in my heart! I am no writer, I'm just the girl next door, enjoying my life journey! Feel free to stop by anytime! I don't think you can ever have too many friends!!!

Simple

Sometimes I need to remember that it's the simple things that make the everyday wonderful.
Getting better acquainted with a friend, taking care of paperwork, spending time with my daughter. Lemonade. Smiling at a stranger, saying good morning. Blogging, viewing pins! Singing to the radio while I clean my house. Laying on the floor and playing with the dog. Listening to my son play his guitar as his sister falls asleep. Sleeping in fresh sheets, with shaved legs. A kiss good night.

Cottage in the Green

I NEED to go here.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

"If we are ever to enjoy life, now is the time - not tomorrow, nor next year, nor in some future life after we have died. The best preparation for a better life next year is a full, complete, harmonious, joyous life this year. Our beliefs in a rich future life are of little importance unless we coin them into a rich present life. Today should always be our most wonderful day." - Thomas Dreier

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

among your duties, pleasure is a thing that also needs accomplishing

To Each of Those I Love, and ME

Quote of the Day

“Self-esteem creates natural highs. Knowing that you're lovable helps you to love more. Knowing that you're important helps you to make a difference to others. Knowing that you are capable empowers you to create more. Knowing that you're valuable and that you have a special place in the universe is a serene spiritual joy in itself.” — Louise Hart

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

It's just my job to stop and notice!

Dreams

The tricky thing has been in trying to figure out which are My Dreams
and which are the ones the world tries to tell me are mine.

So pay attention to what your Heart is Drawn To
Be Aware of what is happening when your
Spirit Feels Full or Feels At Home
or Stirs a Curiosity Deep Inside.

There are answers to be found in those moments.

And it's okay if you try something on and it doesn't fit.
Because that one thing may be the very thing that leads you
to the next thing. (sometimes the road gets twisted)

YOU CAN TRUST YOUR SOUL
Your soul will never bail on you...
Your dreams have their own fingerprint.
Nobody can steal that away from you.
Sometime you just have to give it a Whirl !

Basic Needs

I was talking with a friend last night, who made me want for a more basic lifestyle.

I love the comforts of home, but I would love to live someplace more basic, more simple. Some place lovely, quiet, slow. Where I could truly see the stars.
So I looked up basic needs. I like what I found. I think I am going to try to ensure all these elements are in what I give to myself, my family and friends. Perhaps that will give me the connection I am searching for and just not finding in the city.
(Although...I didn't see iPhone on the chart. Do you think that was just a typo???)

Towel trivia...

Martha Stewart Living, July 2006
Are your towels holding less water than they used to? It may be that your choice of washing detergent contains fabric softener, which has residues that cling to individual fibers, rendering towels less absorbent. The next time you clean a load, add a cup of distilled white vinegar to the rinse cycle; it will remove the residue and restore towels' soaking power. In the future, avoid detergents with fabric softener when washing towels.

Have you ever been on one of those walk ways at the air port. The side walk escalator?
If you walk next to it you are at your own speed. If you stand on it, you move at a fair pace. But if you walk on it, you fast forward. Pick up your pace a bit and you are really moving!

I think I was standing still for many years. I watched life move around me.
When I made changes to my life, it was like literally moving forward. Life started again.
I see that everyone is on thier own private side walk escalator. Some are at a standstill, some are walking and some are running. But we set our pace. Things are added to our pathway, a life obstacle course so to speak! We can stumble and fall, we can stop to evaluate, we can love and learn. But I see now, the trick is to never stop the journey. The obsticals and the pace of life are just ellements of the journey. They help it to form, to take shape, to help propel and sculpt us for... Well... The rest Of the journey!

As obstacles are put in our pathways, we learn that if you step over some of those, you don't have to trudge through the muck. If you start to lose your balance, you may be surprised who comes along to help steady you.
Some obstacles are worth stopping for, but the trick I see, is to not linger too long, keep moving forward.

Here is to the next step on your sidewalk escalator journey! I hope your view is wonderful, your experiences are thrilling and fulfilling. I hope you smile always. And that you keep moving forward!

As for me....I'm off to see a man about a love affair!
Sounds like a good thing to do on a Thursday morning!
Who knows where it may take me!

First Day Of School

Today is the first day of school.
For my son it's the first day of the last year of high school.
He is a senior today! Big man on campus.
For my Cookie, today is the first day if Junior High!
I'm pretty sure that makes her an official Teen!

The lunches are prepped, backpacks are filled, outfits layed out.
Everything is ready.

My son will pick up his friends and his lady, to start the year out on the right foot.
The parking pass, for the privilege to drive to school costs $70.00. What is up with that?
Cookie has afternoon homework sessions planned with her friends, like I believe homework will be the topic of conversation! Right!!

I welcome this new school year, the summer was far too long for this mom. So as they head out to start a new school year, you know I will be doing the Back To School Happy Dance!
Woohoo!!

Life List ..... Good Article

http://www.wholeliving.com/article/life-list-guide

How to Make a Life List

Imagine you had a year to live; write down what you want to do in this time. The exercise helps you prioritize, and makes you feel alive.

The concept is simple: Write down your major life goals and, in the process, motivate yourself to actually achieve them. If, like me, you find the word "goals" too reminiscent of what you do from 9-to-5, then think "dreams," "intentions," "desires." Remember, it's a wish list, not a decades-long to-do list.

Great post and very timely. You may also want to check out http://www.mylifelist.org for inspiration on what to put on your list. The My Life List 90 is a list of the most significant experiences to put on your Life List. We were recently featured on FOX news announcing our 21-Challenge (Jan 10-31) to help people to achieve their major life goals. A great way to stay focused on your goals is to engage the support of a wider community with the same goals. Bill Starr CEO, MyLifeList.org

Smile and roll with it!

I like to view where the hits on my blog come from.
Some of the hits I know personally, some I think I could tell.
Others I am clueless to.
I get hits from all over the globe.
And I like to think that somewhere out there I am making someone laugh!
But as I was viewing my audience today I saw the above link. I don't know how people are viewing my blog through some of these links, but okay!
This one cracked me up! Feel free to skim over it! It is a very well written paper. I hope someone got a good grade on it!!!

If you ever wonder why I write on the topics I do..... Who the hell knows? It's all just random! Life is chaos....smile and roll with it!!!

My Van

This afternoon Marcus from Progressive called. Letting me know that the van was totaled.
I cleaned out all my belongings on Monday, knowing that it would be deemed irreparable.
But still it is a bit sad to know it wont be coming home.

I saw the doctor today, my bruises are healing, and the burn on my arm is doing well. He
said that the pain when I breath deeply will get better in a few more days. But that I need to
get some sleep. (I dont know how!)

I need to look around at new cars now. Cookie says 'NO to the VAN'! So we will do some
family auto shopping!

My cousin called yesterday to tell me of the reservations he was making for the two of us to
go get our oil changed in both our cars. I let him know of my Freeway Drama. He said that maybe
next time I shouldn't go to such extremes just because I dont want to wait for an oil change!!!

Perhaps!!!!

Standing my ground when it counts most

I think we each struggle to hold our ground from time to time.
Today I had to play hard ball with Cookie.

We are having a power struggle, its been building.
And I know if I give too much I will lose all ground I have
worked for. This is not a battle I wont glory over.
But it is a fight, that if I lose, I lose big.

She is nearly 12 going on 30. I love who she is.
I love how strong willed she is. I love how little girl she
is, when no one is watching. I love how she is learning to
to be a junior high girl! I love that she is a leader among friends,
and has no problem following as well.
I love so many things about her.

I know that this power struggle is normal. I have been through it
with her sisters before her. (not the boy.....perfect son you know!)
I would rather my girls were hard headed and sassy, rather than
weak and usable. So I encourage her fight!

But I fear that if I do not enforce boundaries and rules,
curb bad attitudes and stay firm and consistent....
that I will lose the battle to let her grow up at a normal rate.
I don't wont her to miss any part of her childhood, as she
speeds on to be big. I don't want her to grow angry and
unreachable.

So today, after I was told "What Ever" and then hung up on,
I took her phone, the laptop, the iTouch and all other Needed Things.
We have since talked, and she has come to the knowledge that
mom means business.

I wont cave to the tween arguments, or the weeping, or even to the
threats and wild attempts of control her father keeps emailing.
(Like that will EVER work again!)

But I will stand my ground, because, although the battle is making me
crazy and I am tired of the struggle, I know that the prize for being
a tough love kind of mom, is the happiness of my child.
She is my baby, my Cookie, she has my heart!

Interview

My interview with Edward Jones went well.
Now I wait.
The woman from EJ headquarters said
that there where quite a few internal apps for the
position. And to not be discouraged.
To try another location if I don't get this one.
That "I have what they are looking for"!

We have the power!

What would the world be like
if each person on earth knew that someone loved them,
if each person felt needed and wanted.
If each of us had the self confidence to be ourselves.
What would it be like?
It starts with us, a smile, an acknowledgement, a listening ear.
We have the power to make this a much nicer place to live!

Home Grown Art

This was my son's text to me Saturday morning.
It says to me not only that the lawn is getting cut,
that my son values cause and effect/ chore and reward!
But also that my son gets my love of green!!
He gets my abstract view on life around us,
and my need for validation and blogging rights!
My son is perfect! (Even though I know this may not
have happened so painlessly if he was not having people
over that evening.)
I love knowing.....That's my green grass!
