Grumble Grumble, Sniffle Sniffle, Pout

Yesterday, after work  I cut the grass in my tiny back yard. I can do the entire space in about 5 minutes. I am still not in love with the weed eater, but I am working on it. After the main area was cut down, I went after the grass and weeds around the garden area. I have garden clippers, so I clipped and pulled. I finished, happy to see my little garden in all is blooming glory. I put my tools away. Then I headed up for a shower. I used my melaleuca and olive oil concoction on my itchy, yet healing chigger bites. I chatted on the phone for a couple hours, reapplied my anti-itch stuff and fell asleep. I don’t think I even moved. When I woke up, I did all the normal ‘get ready for work' things. However when I arrived at work I realized I was itching more than ever before… in my entire life!!!

 

So the girls at work took a look at me, asked a few questions... they pulled up google and asked if I had this in my yard.

Yes I do!! I cut a lot down with the weed eater; I clipped a bunch of it and pulled the rest by hand.

All my coworkers took a step back and someone said “Welcome to the Midwest! You have Poison Ivy!” I texted Jessette, she laughed at me and said “Nature hates you.”

I bought pills, anti-itch cream, and gooey stuff. I want to cry. I feel worse than I look, and I look pretty bad.

Grumble Grumble, sniffle sniffle, POUT.

As we are driving through Indiana, I am in the passenger seat, enjoying the view. We pass a farm, corn in the field, a charming farm house on the hill, four silos near the barn. On the side of the silos, in big bold writing is painted "tea" "coffee" "sugar" and "flour", just like a set of kitchen canisters. I love it!!

Camping in Indiana in July. It sounds so Americana!
I didn't comprehend how driving 30 miles from ones home would be considered a vacation. But it totally is! All friends and family. Together there were 14 people, three sets of corn hole boards, three camp trailers, a pop up camper, six dogs and a hammock. Cooking over the camp fire was fun, I love my Dutch oven! The green grass and fluffy green trees made me so happy. Even the crazy hot and sticky weather was ok. But let me tell you, I have a whole new respect for insects! I don't think I ever heard of chiggers before. But I know all about them now! All in all, it was a great experience, one I will do again....after the weather cools down!

My friend Karen shared a video on her phone with me today.
Girl friend cardinal sits on Karin's window sill every day. She pecks at the glass every now and then. In the distance you can see boyfriend cardinal at the bird feeder. He picks a sun flower seed, opens it, then flys to his girlfriend and with a birdie kiss, gives it to her. Then he does it over and over again. It is the most romantic little scene!
I love it!

From Phoenix

Yesterday I met a man from Phoenix. He lives in my area. I asked what brought him here, he said his parents had moved here to Mayberry and he and his wife felt this was a good place for their three small children. We talked about the differences from what we grew up with in the desert and life here in the Green. He has lived here for two years, and had a couple tips for me. Our meeting was short, and I will probably never see him again, but for those few minutes I felt like I had a bid of back home. I wanted to hug him when he left, but I didn’t.

I am grateful to have lived in AZ for most of my life. I think that totally helped me to appreciate living in Mayberry in all its beautiful shades of green!!!

HaPPy PLaCe

I have tried over the years to learn the art of meditation. I have searched, unsuccessfully for my inner happy place. I never understood how these concepts could be so out of my reach when I longed for them so completely.

Then one day, between sleep and awake, I found my happy place. It was inwardly tangible, it was peaceful, yet it had all the components I would have picked if I was actually planning the space coherently.

I made a mental note of all the details, the view, the structure, the textures, the elements. Then I made sure I could find it again after I was fully awake....I could!

I now know how to channel my focus and meditate without being distracted. I can calm my world just by visiting this mental space. I am delighted to have finally found these missing pieces of me!

STEPS

When my best friend is unable to sleep, that is when, in those quiet moments, he calmly goes over the issues on his plate, piece by piece. It is at that time he gets clear revelation of how things need to be worked to let everything run smoothly. Then he knows what steps to take and can move forward. The man is amazing.

I see that the calmness and the quiet help to put things into priority. Walking through the steps that are needed, prior to delving in, helps to eliminate the hiccups that can occur when you are in the thick of things.

Set time to work things through, give time to finish, then finish. Sometimes it is the follow through, start to finish, that clears your plate.

Making the commitment to "Finish" helps to get the issue off my to-do list, freeing me from that burden and letting me move to the next adventure.

Once the heavy things are off my plate, I am able to move on to less overwhelming things. And that is when I can enjoy the simple things again.

I am grateful for those in my life that teach me by their fine examples. I am blessed to have such wonderful people in my world.

FOG

Yesterday morning I went for an early morning drive. The fog was cool and dense. I am always thrilled and delighted to see just how beautiful this area is. Everything is lush and green. I drove roads I have driven many times before, and viewed on Google Earth many times before I moved here.

We stopped at a charming little spot, green grassy areas, surrounded by woods. It was a beautiful early morning.

I love it here!
