EVERY DAY

FAIRBURY AND BACK

Fairbury, Illinois is truly a charming small town. No Walmart, but tones of charm and the sweetest people.

It took 5 hours to get there from my house yesterday morning.

The landscape through farmland and woods was beyond beautiful. The Midwest is such an amazing place. So much nature, so much wildlife, so much green. There were corn fields and fields of beans everywhere. Then there were wind farms. So cool! The weather was perfect, fluffy clouds in a sky of blue. It was in the 80s, perfect summer temperatures. It was truly a beautiful day.
Over 5000 people came to see the dirt track race.

The reserved seats were the metal ones, without  shade. I was up in the top of the covered stadium. The breeze was great and the view of the track was amazing.

Three men from Australia sat next to us. They were there as part of  a seven week holiday to the States. They are crisscrossing the US, attending dirt track and Nascar races. They were great fun… and oh that accent!

There were some wrecks, but no one was injured. At some points there were real nail biter moment. All in all the races were awesome! Great wholesome entertainment.

The race ended sometime after midnight. And the plan to get a hotel room didn’t quite pan out the way I thought it would. So instead of spending a leisurely Sunday exploring on the way back home, we did a straight through drive. The night drive home gave me a new view of the Midwest. The sky was so dark, I saw so many stars. So many stars! And all those cool wind turbines…at night they reminded me of “Close Encounter” of some spooky kind.

The return drive went through Champaign and Paris, Illinois. Nothing like France, I can assure you. Then through Terre Haute, Indiana, but it was too early to visit. I was truly sad by this. If you are ever in the area in the summer, check out the Mountain Berry Pie. It is life changing! https://gtpie.com/locations/terre-haute/

I got to watch the sun rise as I drove home though southern Indiana and western Kentucky. And again I was reminded how beautiful the Midwest is.
I love where I live!

DONE IN LOVE

“It is good to love
many things,
for therein lies
the true strength,
and whosoever
loves much,
preforms much,
and can
accomplish much,
and what is done
in love,
is well done.”

HEROES

These two young men are Heroes. One ran into a burning house and saved multiple children, cradling a six year old in one arm and punching out a window to escape through with the other… ran into the fire over and over.  The other drawing a legally owned and carried firearm to take out a psychotic killer hell bound on shooting as many people as he could.  We gotta get back to high praise of acts of heroism and class.  Inspire the good ones it’s still worth the fight back.

JOY

Joy until you have
learned all of
the lessons.
Joy is the lesson.
