MY SUNDAY DRIVE

I like to take a Sunday drive each week. Yesterday I spoke with God as I drove. That is a weekly routine as well. I also spoke with my daughter. She offers her brand of mental and emotional therapy. The king that ends in laughter or tears. I saw a variety of cattle on my drive, black, brown, white... one looked white with black spots, but the white was a bit pinkish... I thought Strawberry Milk!! I also saw fields of sheep. I did not count them... I was driving! I also saw a dozen Amish buggies at a house way out in the country side. That made me very happy. I got totally lost somewhere after Fort Knox and didn’t know it until I was almost in Louisville. The cell service was spotty and I was enjoying the beautiful day! I think I must like getting lost on my Sunday Drives, I do love taking the road less travelled.

THE WORDS I WRITE, THE LIFE I LIVE

A few years ago I posted this on social media. I stand behind it still today.

I took a few days away from social media. When I came back I saw entries of a dozen or so very strong men and women that I, not only adore but love enough to follow on social media. They not only add fun to my life but they support the happy and positive wellbeing that I think most of us try to maintain, not just personally but socially also.
This just reconfirmed and reassured me that living the life I choose is up to me.
If you view my posts on social media or on my blog, that is super. The content I put out reflects me, my life, my point of view. It is a reflection of me, a snapshot of my world. I won’t ask you to agree or take a stand on the things I write. If you don’t like what I post, what I say, or what I do...don’t feel the need to view my posts.
My family looks at my social media. Everything I have socially put out there, I stand behind. I won’t hide who I am, my adventures or my life, because of what others will think. If you follow me, I hope you enjoy. If you don’t like what I say, stop looking at my social media. I don’t put it out there for your approval. I put it out there because I am enjoying my journey!

It’s all about taking a leap of faith in yourself, being who you are and loving the life you are creating.
Be happy on your journey!

ABSURDITY

T Sowell

5 Windows

I passed a five window Chevy truck
on my way to work the other day.
It was red, that faded, super old red that says, I am still hot!
I can’t say just why I love those trucks built back in the early 1950s.
But I do!

HOW MUCH

If we got as much as we give,
how long would we stay where we are?

If we got in return as much as we give,
would we be overwhelmed with abundance
or would our pockets be empty?

If we could live off the equal amount we give to others,
would we be well nourished
or would we suffer from malnutrition?

HISTORY

History is not there for you to like or dislike.
It is there for you to learn from it.
And if it offends you, even better.
Because then you are less likely to repeat it.

It's not yours to erase, it belongs to all of us.

There is a lot of history we should never want to repeat.
But to disregard it, dispose of it, is not the way to learn from it.
There is good that comes from everything.
Let's be one family and care for each other, learning from the past.
Moving forward to better every thing.

TREASURE

I send a treasure to my granddaughter every month. Some things are sentimental, like the “BIG HUNGRY BEAR” book that is just like the one I read to my little ones. Some treasures are symbolic, like her first Tutu! Some deliveries are just because, like Humu, the fish 🐠 I got in Maui and the squishy jet airplane.
Then there are the treasures I send to her for her parents. The things she won’t ever appreciate, the things that make her parents job, being her parents a bit easier. I love all the treasures. I love that even though I am a million miles away, she has me right there with her.

SOCIETY CONTRIBUTE

FAITH IN ONESELF

–The history of the world is the history of a few men who had “faith in themselves”.

Swami Vivekananda said that all “knowledge” is already there in oneself. Why cannot he express it? Because he does not believe in this. The moment you start believing it must and will come out. You can do anything. You fail only when you do not believe and strive sufficiently to manifest the infinite power within.

The greatest help to us comes from “faith in ourselves”. Faith in ourselves should be extensively learned and practiced on a daily basis. Throughout the history of mankind , if any motive power has been potent than another in the lives of great men and women, it that of “faith in themselves”.

No matter what the situation of a man he has to learn faith in himself at some point in his life. So it is better to know this and practice faith in self form the very first.

Whatever you think of yourself, that you will be. If you think yourself weak, weak you will be; If you think you are strong, strong shall you be.

He who has no faith in himself can never have faith in God.

IRISH BROGUE

I get to work with many companies around the world.
I love listening to all the different accents.
But my favorite is the Irish Brogue.
There is something so down to earth and beautiful
about the sound of their accent.
I wish I could hear it all the time.
However, the Kentucky accent comes very close in my adoration!

SCARY ROBIN HOOD

I’m watching “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves”
My children loved watching Walt Disney’s version of the fable. They watched it so often I can still sing all the darling songs.
In 1991 the Kevin Costner version came out. I liked it. I got a VHS copy and it became a family favorite. My daughters called it “Scary Robin Hood”.
I miss watching it with my kids.

NAPPING IS HEALTHY

Dr Will said “I used to worry about the need to nap and I would fight off the impulse when I had work to do. I have since learned that people who nap generally enjoy better mental health and mental efficiency than people who do not nap” (myself included).

http://ow.ly/lphP30qJOEo
  1. Accept napping as a positive thing. Remind yourself that a power nap can actually make a day more productive. Do not equate napping with being lazy.
  2. Do not fight the body’s desire to nap. This will result in unpleasant or unproductive days, or in some cases worse as one often battles fatigue with extra caffeine.
  3. Take naps when you can. If your schedule does not permit a nap every day, consider taking short, productive naps as needed.
  4. Consider time and duration. Napping for too long, too often, or at the wrong time of day can be counterproductive. Experiment with what length and schedule works best for you. There are many phone timer apps that can help you set up a length that works best.
  5. Napping can mean just taking a brain break. Lying on a hammock or just staring into space is the essence of rest – it is the act of not doing that refreshes you in body and mind.
  6. Consider using a meditation app that guides you through a 10-15-minute session – if naps aren’t your thing. A dedicated meditation practice can quiet an anxious mind and can have the same calming effect as a nap

EMMYMADE

I saw this cooking demonstration on YouTube.
The young woman was delightful..
I enjoyed her cooking show so much I followed her on FB.
She is fun!

On each episode she says this Japanese word before she try’s the product.
I couldn’t understand what she said.
On one episode she wore a T-shirt that’s read Eat The Ducky Moss.
So I read the subtitles on the episode and looked up the word she said.
“Itadakimasu” is the word she uses.

I found this one little saying adds to her charm.
Look her up. She is really fun and inspiring to watch!

SELF LOVE

I think “SELF ESTEEM” is a forgotten component in many people’s lives. The other day a friend said something about not liking herself.
She is a very well put together woman. She is at the top of her career, extremely talented in so many areas and has accolades to show for her hard work. She dresses impeccable and always looks fabulous.
Yet over the years, as I have gotten to know her, I have seen that, like so many of us, she puts on a great front to the world and feels so much less on a personal level. I think that somewhere along the line, just like home economics, we stopped teaching children the skill of valuing oneself.
Maybe it’s the lack of overall respect. We could all use a refresher in respect for others and ourselves. Maybe it’s also GRATITUDE. Having gratitude for others is so important but having gratitude for self is vital. Maybe it’s a combination of so many things.
I’m not sure of all the right ingredients to build a Happy Human.
But I’m sure one of them is learning to like who you are, for the person you are. Not for what you can do better than someone else or the nice things you own, but for the person you are with others and alone with yourself.
Being TRUSTWORTHY, being KIND, being GENEROUS, being THOUGHTFUL. Making good LIFE CHOICES, in public and when you’re in your own, that’s called INTEGRITY. Having the same standards in public and when no one is watching, truly tells who you are. If your life is a just show for others, if you are someone different when away from certain people or if you change when you are with a group, you probably need to work on getting to know the real you. Learn about who you are, what your values are, how you feel about life issues- on your own, not on what your peers say. Learn what you like, what you stand for, what your contribution to society is. Your contribution doesn’t have to be huge, like ending world hunger. How amazing would it be if we all contributed respect and caring for our community and neighbors?! The world would be a better neighborhood!!! If that was the case, we would be able to put more effort into fixing basic issues, like pollution, global hunger, perfecting the chocolate chip cookie!
Bottom line of this soap box speech is…Get to know who you are. IF you don’t like what you find, take the time to become the person you want to be. Treat others and yourself with respect, show gratitude, trustworthiness, kindness and thoughtfulness…all the time… have integrity. These things will cause you to have self-esteem.
I know, from firsthand experience, you will be so much happier!
