DAY 5

Day 5 of working from home. I am loving not having to drive into work and the added hours to my day because of that. However, not being able to leave the work at work makes it hard to get work off my mind. I clock out on time, I shut off my computer and the dining room light...but my head keeps processing everything.
I still get dressed every day, but slippers are my new go to. I put on a touch of make up and do something with my hair (mostly so I don't scare John). I still get to spend my lunch break getting house work caught up on, but I am no longer as "gung-ho" about it.
I am grateful to get to work from home. I am blessed to be able to stay healthy at home. But I am a social creature...and I miss people.
Still up for the challenge!

NON SLEEP MACHINE

I had a sleep study done, because YES, I snore.
The test said that I very moderate sleep apnea.
So the doctor suggested a sleep apnea machine.
I picked the one that is called the Nasal Pillow,
it touches my face the least.
I sat through the tutorial and was ready to give it a try.
Let me say, at this point, that I had no problem with my snoring.
If I did stop breathing in my sleep, I still think this is debatable,
it did not bother me. I woke up rested and happy every morning.
However, now that I am using this machine to sleep, I am not
sleeping well AT ALL. John is sleeping great, without earplugs,
for the first time since we moved in together.
I wake up all night long, I am uncomfortable with it on,
and I wake up each morning more tired than the day before.
I will keep going... the doctor asked me to do it for several weeks.
But I dislike it more that I can tell you.
I need a nap....so I can snore and rest!

OFFICE MUSIC

This is what I have playing at my desk for background music. I used it at the office and now at home as well. Peaceful and calming, but not in the way. I bet it would be perfect to listen to at night too.
Perfect!

DAY 1

Day one of working from home. The home office ran smoothly and I think I’ve got the hang of this.
I even made sure I was dressed, down to my shoes, hair and make up this morning before I settled into work. My cute little dining table is now covered with work, so is most of the dining room floor. Plus I got the laundry and some house hold chores done while holding for vendors, and when you don’t have a 45 minute drive back and forth you get so much more accomplished! I think this new work environment will work out just fine. I’m up for the challenge and I’m doing my part to help keep those around me healthy.

LIFE TRANSITION

All industry is feeling the effects of Covid 19. Every one is trying to stock their homes and still keep a distance from others in hopes of not spreading this illness, I marvel at the speed of change. Walking through the grocery the other day, I listened to people complain that the selves were so bare. Yet I left with nearly all the items on my list. How blessed I felt that the necessities for my home were all available.
Today I packed my office into a few boxes and unplugged my computer. Then I drove home in the rain, thinking to myself that I wouldn’t drive those roads again until this health crisis is over, and by then the trees will be green.
I arrived home to a new land line and set up my “home office”. I will miss the company I keep at work, but I feel so blessed to continue to work from home. We all need to make changes and sacrifices to help keep others and ourselves healthy. This getting back to basics and being mindful that self reliance is something we should work on all the time not just when life changing events happen, are great life lessons. Just like being re-educated in proper hand washing and cleaning techniques. We have all learned a few things through this life event. I’m glad we, all of us, are going through this trying time together.

ALTON

I am watching Alton and Elizabeth Ingram Brown as they cook from their home during the Pandemic, on YouTube. I have loved watching Alton Brown for many many years, and have learned so much from him, but tonight I see that he is just an normal and delightful as I always thought he was. I love that we are all in this together!

HAND WASHING

Ignaz Semmelweis, a 19th century Hungarian obstetrician credited with championing the invaluable practice of ... hand washing! Semmelweis worked in one of the Vienna General Hospital's maternity wards in the 1840s. He was trying to figure out why some new mothers were dying of a mysterious illness when one of his friends died of an infection after being cut with a scalpel during an autopsy. Semmelweis put two and two together, and realized doctors weren't doing anything to clean their hands when they went between patients -- like, say, a corpse and a woman in labor. Semmelweis made doctors to wash their hands between autopsies and other examinations and, wouldn't you know it, the death rate went down. His colleagues at the time didn't believe his theories, but we are eternally grateful for them today.

THOUGHT

“And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.

And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.

And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed."

LAYERS OF LOVE

I know I have spoken about this before, however wonderful things need to be shared!
Five Daughters Bakery is my favorite donut shop ever! They have two location in Nashville, one in both Georgia and Florida and one in Franklin, Tennessee. That is my favorite, because it’s in the most eclectic little artisan mall, “The Factory at Franklin”. There are lots of little shops and galleries there. Some come and go, but some are solid there.
The bakery is my favorite, but Carnivores Meat Market is awesome as well. They have several cuts of prime beef. But my favorite thing is to get a paper bag with fresh cut jerky. It is amazing!
Protein and Pastries! ♥️

SILLINESS

SPRING

I love the start of Spring.
The Bradford Pear
trees are all white blossoms
and pale green leaves.
There are Daffodils, Pansies
and Tulip decorating yards.
I even saw the first
Purple Bearded Iris yesterday.
I even love the purple flowering
weeds the cover the farmers’ fields.
I love driving with the windows down.
And listening to all the happy
birds in the morning.
Spring makes everything happier!

TOILET PAPER

This Coronavirus is over the top!
The media is making this far more severe than it has to be.
But John felt the need to join the band wagon and buy Toilet Paper 🧻 because everyone else was! (And we needed some for the cupboard)
Well this brand has this super nifty Fresh Linen scented tubes. So I broke the seal and sniffed. Thank you coronavirus for causing an unfamiliar brand of 🧻 to be brought into my house, smells great!

LOVE

“Pure love. Love is an incredible power. If you give out love, the reaction to it is so great, even with crazy, violent people. If you give out love, they stop for a minute, because everybody notices love when it’s coming their way. . . . I feel that so long as you are doing something with love, the world will support you. That’s how the world works.”  Ringo Starr

This was my FB post 9 years ago today.
I still love it ♥️
