ONLY YOU

Everything you do is
based on the choices you make.
It’s not your parents, your past relationships, your job,
the economy, the weather,
an argument or
your age that is to blame.
You and only you
are responsible for every
decision and choice you make.
Period.

AURA

A migraine headache is caused by changes in your nervous system. Migraines may progress through four stages: prodrome, aura, attack and postdrome. Not everyone experiences all the stages.

Forty to 60% of people with migraines experience a prodrome phase — subtle changes one or two days preceding the attack. This may include constipation, depression, diarrhea, drowsiness, food cravings, or hyperactivity and irritability. Alternatively, you might not notice any symptoms.

About 20% of people with migraines experience a more distinct migraine warning sign in a second phase, called the migraine aura.

Auras are usually visual but can also be sensory, motor or verbal disturbances. Visual auras are most common.

A visual aura is like an electrical or chemical wave that moves across the visual cortex of your brain. The visual cortex is the part of your brain that processes visual signals. As the wave spreads, you might have visual hallucinations.

The best known visual aura is called a fortification spectrum because its pattern resembles the walls of a medieval fort. It may start as a small hole of light, sometimes bright geometrical lines and shapes in your visual field.

This visual aura may expand into a sickle- or C-shaped object, with zigzag lines on the leading edge. As it moves, it may appear to grow. Auras are not the same for all people, so you also might experience bright spots or flashes. Auras are sometimes accompanied by a partial loss of vision referred to as a scotoma. Auras commonly last 10 to 30 minutes.

A sensory aura is also common. It can occur at the same time as the visual aura, directly afterwards or simply on its own. A sensory aura begins as a tingling in one limb or a feeling of numbness that travels up your arm over 10 to 20 minutes. The sensation can spread to one side of your face and tongue.

Another aura causes transient speech or language problems referred to as dysphasic aura. In the rarest of auras, the limbs and possibly the face on one side of your body might become weak; this is referred to as hemiplegic migraine.

A migraine aura usually precedes the migraine attack but can also occur during the attack. A migraine aura can also occur without an associated headache. The migraine attack itself can last as little as four hours or it can last several days. The attack is followed by a postdrome phase, where you might feel drained or washed out.

SHANTY HOLLOW LAKE

One of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been.

So magical!

The water was so clear. There were so many little fish in the lake.

Tiny little mushrooms and my little amphibian friend was only as big as my thumb nail.

The flowers were so pretty!

The butterflies and dragonflies were everywhere.

The humidity today was a killer with the temps being so high, it was a scorcher!

Todays ride!

LURKING BEHIND THE FRIDGE

I bought a new bottle of all purpose cleaner the other day. The type you have to dilute. It smells like lemons, nice and fresh. (I know, I could have made my own. I have in the past, but not this time.)
Today I washed down doors, walls and baseboards with it. My little house smells cheery. Then I got super motivated and figured it was well past time to pull out the fridge and give it a good dusting/scrub back there. This is something I did on a regular based when the kids were young.
But today when that fridge was pulled away from the wall I was horrified.
I won’t share all the details but it was super nasty.
Like a massive gang of greasy dust bunnies made it their bad guy hang out, for years and years. Unsupervised!
It was not pleasant.
Now it is clean and smells lovely.
Mission complete!

CELEBRITY CRUSH

I was messaging my friend at my old office today. I miss working with her. As we were messaging she sent me this gif…

I said something about him being a Hottie. She replied that, yes he was a good looking man but this next gif was her high school celebrity crush…

That made me laugh, since her girlfriend looks just like Ann Hathaway. Made me smile and had me thinking about my high school celebrity crush… I had a thing for Steven Tyler, but that didn’t last long. But when I dug in deep I knew who my crush was.
(I always make myself laugh, I am so unique.)
When I was three I fell in love with….

Maybe it was his incredible voice, or maybe … I have no idea. But yes Walter Cronkite was my celebrity crush. Just the start of my ‘thing for Vintage!’

NATIONAL DAY

Today is National French Fry Day, I think yesterday was National Blueberry Muffin Day.

Who comes up with this stuff?

I do love it!!!

DOORS

When one door of happiness closes,
another opens,
but often we look
so long at the closed door that we do not see

opened for us.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL

This is Berry, he is my emotional support animal. He has been there for me for nearly 55 years.
Just thought I would share!

CHILI PEPPERS

Last year we grew jalapeño chilies and fish pepper chilies. (We never heard of fish peppers before either. But man are they HOT!)
I don’t like super spicy food so I dried them. Then last month, when I was in Phoenix, I gathered all the chili peppers from my son’s inherited garden.

I brought them home with me and dried them.
Today I ground ALL the chili peppers.
Man the smell was so intense!
I have no idea what I will do with all this chili powder, but it sure is awesome!
