Irises in Fall

I love this time of year. Fall is so beautiful in the Midwest.
Everything looks just like Autumn should.
The trees are all shades of golds, reds, oranges and pinks.
As the leaves fall, it looks just like Autumn Confetti. 
Where ever I go, the view is beautiful.
But there is one spot along my drive to work,
that I find exceptionally delightful.
Among the splendor of fall, one home has Yellow Irises still in bloom.
I know it is because our autumn weather was warm until late into the season.
But I do not care why, I just love the sight of Yellow Irises greeting me.
Just one more reason for me to LOVE FALL!

Today I spoke with Mrs. Clause.

She gave me a Christmas list to fill. 

She sent a helpful elf along to 

help me with my task. 

I can not tell you how happy it made me 

to start gathering the things on her list. 

The nice ladies at Kohls were helpful
and more than a bit mystified as we counted 

all the secret things and left with two
huge overflowing packing boxes. 

Getting the boxes and their holiday contents
into my little car, in the rain was mighty
funny to watch I’m sure. 

But I cannot even express the feeling 

of Christmas Joy I felt at that moment. 

Today may be the first day of November, 

but it’s the Holiday Season here in my 

bit of Kentuckianna!

P.S. I love helping Mrs Clause!!!

Thanksgiving Tree

On November 1st each year when my children were young, I would put a paper tree trunk on a wall or door in our home. Then I would cut out dozens of paper leaves. Browns, reds, golds, orange and green. The leaves would go in a large bowl on the table. Each day I would encourage my family to write something they were thankful for on a leaf and add it to the tree. Each day our tree would grow. I loved this tradition. I so miss my children being little.

Fall in Kentucky

The drive down Parish this morning reminded me how much I love Kentucky in the fall.
The small town charm with all the old architecture just delights me.
But to see the autumn colors splashed along the tree covered roads is an amazing awe inspired sight.
The confetti of fall colored leaves that showered my car as I drove out of town made me giggle.
I love fall in Kentucky.
