Today I visited with my friend Susan. I truly love this lady. 

We chatted about everything and watched a news channel as they talked about the life of 

Queen Elizabeth. 

Susan is in the process of paring down her hobby collection. 

She has an amazing array of yarns, needle work and embroidery. 

It is like a candy shop of 

fancy work. 

As I made my way out, 

giving her a hug, 

Susan instructed me to take 

the two bags that she had 

packed for me. 

I thanked her and headed 

on my way. 

Tonight as my day slowed 

I took a look at the 

treasures I have been given. 

Wools, whisper threads, alpaca and cotton, from England, Turkey, 

Peru and Chile.

This is like a magical Christmas just for me. 

I have been truly blessed 

with friendship and treasures!

I am in the process of making window treatments for the kitchen at the little red brick house. I called them “Whimsical Italian”… my daughter called them 

Whimzy "eye-tal-yon"!!!

TIME OFF REQUEST

My boss stopped into my office yesterday and told me I needed to look at my calendar and submit a time off request. I looked dumbfounded at him and could not clearly comprehend his statement. 

I have been holding down the work fort for the last few weeks, I am beyond busy and there is no finish line in sight. 

This year has been truly a blur. I have put in more overtime and worked harder than I could have imagined I would. (And it’s tiring, physically and mentally. Interesting how your body and mind work and pay in tandem for the stress you put it through.)

My boss is retiring in the next few weeks. That alone will change the dynamics of the office. But we are currently training two new employees also. I am grateful for the newbies, but they will not lighten the work load for probably six more months or so. 

I don’t currently see a light at the end of the tunnel.

But early next month I have a life event happening, one that I want to be completely in the moment for. I want to be prepared and present, so that I won’t miss a minute. Then there is a business trip that I need to fully immerse myself in. Then Halloween, I am looking forward to that, then Thanksgiving and onto Christmas and New Years celebrations. Then the busiest work months follow.

I realize that I am so very blessed. However, I feel like everything is staring to snowball. 

And when I stop, and take two more pills for the migraine that still isn’t going away, I think that maybe I do need to look at my calendar and submit a time off request. 

I’ll do that tomorrow I’ll give my boss a hug too. 

4am… I’ve been awake for hours. Maybe I can sleep now.

It sprinkled on my way into work. We saw some friend around 3:30 and it sprinkled them too. But as we were heading out to watch the college football game it started to poor. And you know me, I love the rain, but it was really coming down. By the time we reached our destination there were rivulets running down the hill. We hadn’t been there long when little Lily wanted to show me something. The rain was so heavy and Lily’s yard is at the lowest point on the  hill. 

That trash tote came from up the hill. The water was so fast that the tote nearly took out the old bridge. Then it sucked it into the woods. 

 Over 5 inches in two hours!

DELIGHTFUL THINGS

As I drive to and from work and on my wandering, I keep a look out for the delightful things along my way. I love the fat happy cows and the occasional horse. The deer totally make my day. The allusive beaver, raccoon and turtle are such a fun surprise. The wild geese and their cousins, the ducks, are always fun to watch. The swarms of starlings that move in huge synchronized waves are amazing. But I have to say, I truly adore the chickens that wander around the farm house yards like they are the busy keepers of the roost. They are so different and so darling. This week I have seen several that are a gray fluffy wool color, some that are yellow and red, and a flock of bourbon colored hens. Just charming!

I love where I live!!
