SPRING MILLS
Three years ago I went to Spring Mills State Park for the first time. Like so many of the parks in the Midwest, it was just as much a history lesson as an entertainment. I loved everything about it; the creek, the sawmill, the old houses and buildings, the waterfall and hike. I still have the hand carved hiking stick I bought that day, for impromptu hikes. I really enjoyed that trip and highly recommend it! So if you are in Southern Indiana … GO!

YELLOW JACKET
One of these demon bugs slammed into my chest as I was biking down the backroads today. Slammed into me then tried to get cozy down my shirt. I tried to dig him out as fast as I could, but he was faster. And now I have a super sore yellow jacket sting on my curvy area. I can tell you that yellow jacket stings burn and hurt super bad! And no, I didn’t kill him!
Yellowjacket or yellow jacket is the common name in North America for predatory social wasps of the genera Vespula and Dolichovespula. Members of these genera are known simply as "wasps" in other English-speaking countries.

ANSWER THE QUESTION
“WHAT DO I REALLY, REALLY WANT?”
This is perhaps the most life changing question of all!
When was the last time you paused and asked yourself what you really want? Maybe you haven’t in a while, or maybe you never have. On an unhurried day, take an interrupted, quiet hour. Close your eyes, breathe deeply for a few minutes until you feel calm, and direct your attention inward. Ask yourself: “What do I want most in this world?”
Remember, you don’t have to go with the flow. You don’t have to satisfy others’ expectations. I had a few course corrects in life (an early divorce, some necessary partying pauses, an unfulfilling yet hard-to-leave-because-it-paid-well job). At those times, I came back to myself when I needed to and allowed my intuition to guide me. Our intuition is rarely wrong. Ask yourself what you want, and the job/relationship/city/fill-in-the-blank will materialize. Then you just have to give yourself permission to pursue it

DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY
I love to go for drives. There is so much to see.
It helps me put my life into perspective.
Yesterday’s drive took me past corn fields, soybean
fields and tobacco fields. The fields and woods were so many shades of green. The
air was cool, and the wind made the corn fields dance as the light of day
turned to dusk. There were deer standing in the bean fields, big fat rabbits
that ran for cover, long horn cattle, horses and goats. There were also dogs
that gave chase as I passed by. There were people cutting their grass,
clearing their ditches, tending their gardens, stoking their bonfires. There
was a grandpa working on a truck and a momma rocking her baby on the front
porch. There was laundry hanging on the line and smoke coming off the back-yard
barbeque. I watched the sun set and one single airplane leave a vapor trail
across the sky.
I love seeing the slowness of country life. It is so different
from the city life I grew up with. I love everything about it. I like to watch
the world pass by, take a deep breath, wave at a stranger and know that this is
what life is truly all about.

FRIDAY NIGHT
This bad had to have been one of the best I have heard at FRIDAY AFTER 5. The woman with the lovely, long hair hat the most incredible voice, and the band was excellent! (All well over 60) they played some amazing classic rock. The weather was wonderful too!
There has been a different local bands and singers each time I have been there. It sets the atmosphere. There are people of all ages and walks of life mixing and mingling. The sandwiches at Creme are served on mismatched china saucers. Everything here makes me smile.

SWIM LESSON🤣
Today was day 5 of my granddaughters swim lessons. There are 3 little ones in the class.
This is what her mommy sent me:
“Make up swim class got cut short. They had to move us to the big pool with the adults because of short staff on life guards, but then Joanna pooped in the pool so we had to evacuate. The seniors were not happy about that.”
REVISITING
I went through my sewing room closet last night. It is filled with boxes. Not one of them has sewing paraphernalia in them. But all of them are dear to me. They contain a vast collection of my history. If someone else was to go through the mass of cardboard and paper they may say it is a complete and utter disaster. And they could be right. But when I need the bits and pieces of my past… the good, the bad and the whimsical… I know that I can find my carbon path in those boxes.
Last night I unearthed my past 10 years. I dusted off my old computer and organized my sliver of history. I was up very late making sure the view was accurate and clear.
But as I replaced the boxes into their dark closet, I had to smile. I love the path that I have walked. I love the person I have been along my journey. I know that as my life has changed and evolved, it is not just the past that has taught me, but also the vision of what the future holds that helps propel me forward.
Going through my boxed history has reminded me that it’s time to move forward, to progress and to wander!
So to my late night scavenger hunt, and to my need to push forward…. I say….NEXT!
With my love for who I am and where I have been, I’m ready to see what there is around the next fork in the road!
